something new!

Recently you have noticed that there is some type of construction in the back side of our school. That construction going on is our new high school being built. This took a long time to be passed by the city. What I mean by passed is that the school district had to convince the city into getting this new school and also convince the people in town by voting yes or no. The money that would have had to be given to build the school was $69.6 million dollars. After the votes were passed it was said that we would be able to construct the new building. Taxes were raised and the city received $42.2 million dollars, all this money went into the new school.

Our school at the moment was constructed in 1978 and was made to only fit 500 students, the school is now at 950 students. As you can tell we kinda went over the limit, after the years we started adding portables and we added another hall which is the 400 hall. The new school will be finished in 2020 and will have the capacity of 1,150 students. The new school will be two stories and 180,000 square feet. The new school will have two gyms so both girls and boys will be able to practice during winter sports or other activities going on. Also we will have an auditorium for plays and special events that the school has like the Miss.Grandview and Mr.Grandview and also the dramas plays. Usually these events are hosted at the middle school but now we will be able to to have at the high school.

Also it was said that there will be more classes available because the school will have more classrooms and better materials such as computers and science lab materials and etc. This new school will bring so much to the community, it will be a welcoming environment to the families and also students will have a better academic environment.
