Seven lucky girls will be taking the stage on Saturday, March 14th, and competing for the title of, Miss Grandview. This year’s theme is, “Under the Stars”. The pageant will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Grandview Middle School. The contestants are, Alexis Lepes, Briseida Espindola, Yanet Cortez, Marin Bender, Jessica Avalos, Nara Gonzalez, and Karina Fajardo.

Contestants will be scored in 5 separate categories: Interview, Talent, Poise, Fitness and Academics. There are some very unique talents this year such as playing the drums, and a baking skit, as well as traditional talents such as, playing the trumpet, poem reading, and singing. Each category will be weighted at 20%. Additional awards are, “The Spirit of Miss Grandview”, and the “Be Your Best Self” Award.

The candidates have been practicing hard to perfect their routines for several weeks now and preparing themselves for the questions that will be asked through mock interviews and practice questions. They have also prepared themselves by walking in their heels and making sure each detail is in place, down to the flip of their hands.

The girls report that they love their opening number for the beautiful choreography. And as last years girls are, they are most weary about the fitness routine. They have also shared that they are so glad that the seven of them have become so much closer and have come to know each other on a deeper level. They each are so excited for the program and are all hoping to become Miss Grandview 2018-2019.

The outgoing court is proud to see how far these girls have come and know they will do well in representing their community. Although, this court will not leave without a few tears shed at all the happy memories they have made.

Princess Krystal’s favorite memory is: Having the chance to get so close to the other royalty and sharing many memories at all the parades and pageants.

Princess Kendall’s favorite memory is: At the Selah Parade when the Pepsi Semi-Truck Driver reversed against the curb so perfectly and then he told us that we could have as many pepsis out of the back of his truck as we wanted as long as we didn’t take any sodas from the Coca- Cola truck.

And Queen Maritza’s favorite memory is: getting to attend parades in different communities and getting to represent the city of Grandview in our pretty flowery float
