Gender Defender Assembly
All week we have seen people dressed wildly to represent their gender and show their school spirit. Through the week, there have been some people who have continued to step up their game such as senior, Jenny Ramos, who always makes sure her outfits are upbeat and unique. Other honorary mentions include Destiny Jones and the Burris twins for their high end costumes. Briseida Espindola is also another person who always brings her girl power!
On Friday, March 23rd, the final tally has been made during the school assembly. Activities ranged from trivia to relay races. There was plenty of fun- filled games including, song trivia, where it was a battle between the two genders to see who could sing the randomly songs such as the “Fairly Odd Parents” theme song and “Before He Cheats”, this game went to the girls. Balancing marbles on a table without dropping them was considered to be a draw. Then there was the classic trivia game where the winner of the question gets to put a whipped cream pie in the opponent's face, this game went to the boys. The boys also won a game where a person had to throw a ping pong ball at their partner who was responsible for using their body to drop the ball into a cup. Another game was cup- stacking where solo cups had to be stacked with a piece of paper between them and then removed so the cups fell onto each other, this was a win for the girls. In the relay race, where cards were knocked over with rubber bands, people were running with feet tied together and a soda was chugged, the boys embarrassingly lost. The boys were also defeated in the game where marbles needed to be transferred from one 2 liter to the other. The boys also “took and ‘L’ in all dress up days except for “Stashes vs. Lashes”, this allowed the women to reign supreme with a total score of 23-17. For the third annual gender defender, the score is now 2-1, with girls being ahead.
