At the school board meeting on February 20th, along with the delightful surprise of snow, we also had four wonderful teams being recognized for good grades inside the GHS Library. This means that two-thirds of the winter sports received the WIAA award for having a combined GPA over 3.0. The following teams recognized were Girls Basketball, Girls Wrestling, Cheer and Boys Basketball.

At 6:30, the pledge of allegiance was led by an adorable second grader and then the awards were presented. Each coach came up and introduced their athletes as well as said a few words about their team. Coach Bob Johnson of the Girls Wrestling team announced he was very proud of his team. Coach Sarah Mora of Cheer emotionally said that she knows her team will continue to do great things and was tearful about the numerous seniors she would lose. Coach Glen Braman of Girls Basketball shared the teams goals with the audience. They were glad to have competed in two District Playoff games and won one of the games as that was one of their goals for the season. Coach Frankie Medina also praised his athletes for their grades and insightfully said that his boys excelled in the classroom as well as on the court, a trait he admired. He also said they would be shooting for an even higher academic award next year!

Congratulations GHS Sports for continuously receiving academic excellence and making GHS proud.
