Mr. Grandview 2018
Mr. Grandview, the fun-filled pageant for the gentlemen at Grandview High School is coming up soon. Both Josh Verduzco and Christian Orozco were runners up with Jorge Montano being crowned Mr. Grandview. The King will make an appearance this year to turn over his crown to an excited new member of royalty, though those who are running are still a mystery.
Under the direction of Debbi Foster, Abby Martinez, a senior at Grandview High will be hosting this event as her senior project. But where can people watch this crazy show? At Smith Elementary on March 10th. Mrs. Foster reports that some of the funnest things to watch is how the boys always manage to catch the eyes of the judges with their charming personalities.
It will be interesting to see how this year’s theme of ‘camping’ will be incorporated into the contestants’ performance. Perhaps they will all demonstrate their best bear crawl. They will use anything they can to gain the extra advantage in their assessed categories of: talent, self-expression, academics, personal interview and impromptu question.
A humorous part to watch is the talent portion because of people’s unique ideas. In the past, Mr. Grandview has seen men perform belly dancing, 2 Liter Mountain Dew chugging, and rubiks cube solving. Although, there has also been very many talented singers such as current King, Jorge Montano, who sang to and wooed the Miss Grandview candidates of 2017-2018. Others in the past have also done monologues and plays to both showcase their acting ability as well as allow the audience to see their personalities.
