Miss Grandview

Miss Grandview was held in the Grandview Middle School gym where the eight contestants Kendall Roberson, Kai’Lei Elizondo, Daisy Romo, Joanna Perez, Marlene Castilleja, Jasel Perez, Maritza Alvarez, Krystal Bravo. Showed their talents leadership and how they would be a great fit for Miss Grandview in representing the community. At the end of the competition, Miss Grandview of 2016-2017 is Maritza Alvarez! and her court: Kendall Roberson and Krystal Bravo!

An interview on these amazing girls:

How was your experience at Miss Grandview?

Krystal: “It was great. Life changing experience.”

Kendall: “Exciting, Fun, A learning experience.”

Maritza: “Performing in front of everyone learning how to dance getting closer to the girls and seeing how talented they are.”

What does it mean to you to be Miss Grandview?

Krystal: “I have the privilege to represent Grandview and show my love for our amazing community.”

Kendall: “Acting like a lady, representing Grandview, Being a role model.”

Maritza: “It's an honor and quite a responsibility our community is looking up to us. I am happy to represent the community of Grandview and not only Miss Grandview but as a Hispanic to help increase that diversity.”

Who was your main support?

Krystal: “My Main support was my mother. She encouraged me and pushed to strive for Miss Grandview.”

Kendall: “My Mom, she made sure that everything that I was doing was correct and pretty.”

Maritza: “My best friend Joanna Perez and I were both running for Miss Grandview. We told each other, “I will support you, we will do this 100 percent together.”

Who encouraged you to take part in Miss Grandview?

Krystal: “My friends and my mom also showed me much support and encouragement to run.”

Kendall: “My whole family and teacher at school.”

Maritza: “Joanna and Alondra but mostly Alondra reason being that she was a princess on the court regardless of the outcome she wanted us to get the experience and other people that were really encouraged me was my mom and my sister, Karla.”

Did you ever think that you would get this far?

Krystal: “I believed I would get this far with effort and I thank everyone for helping me.”

Kendall: “No.”

Maritza: “It was really difficult for me to learn the routines I’m not coordinated I really didn't think I would make it this far I was prepared for the worst but also the best.”

How did you feel?

Krystal: “I’m very happy and excited for this amazing journey to come.”

Kendall: “In shock, didn’t really kick in until Krystal also got called.”

Maritza: “When they announced my name I was just the feeling of receiving the crown. It was a very happy feeling when the curtains closed it was still happy but more overwhelming with joy.”

What responsibilities come with this position and how will you accomplish these responsibilities?

Krystal: “The responsibilities that come with being Grandview’s Princess are, being the best I can be, volunteering time and other things. I will accomplish these responsibilities by devoting as much time as possible to our city and my position.”

Kendall: “Representing Grandview, do my best to be active in the community.”

Maritza: “I think that the responsibilities that come with Miss Grandview is to carry it with honor and respect and be nice to the people in our community and represent what the community of Grandview is”

What were your strengths in the competition?

Krystal: “My strengths were poise and the award I won was the Poise Award, with this award it showed my strength during the question, poise routine, and individual pose.”

Kendall: “Good Speaker and fairly confident.”

Maritza: “I was very comfortable on stage, knowing how to speak and communication”

How will you give back to the community now being Miss Grandview?

Krystal: “I will give back to the community by participating in all my required events and by donating my time.”

Kendall: “Attending as many community events as I can helping others.”

Maritza: “one of the biggest things that I can give back to the community not just participate in one activity but more than one”

How will this change how you view Miss Grandview?

Krystal: “Noticing how much the time is put in with the court and community has changed my views on Miss Grandview. I will now appreciate everything that takes place in our community.

Kendall: “More personal since I will get to see what it’s like to be a member of the Miss Grandview court.”

Maritza: “before I participated in the pageant I thought o miss Grandview is based on beauty or popularity through this experience I learned it’s not they selected girls that can represent the town of Grandview with their personality, anybody can do it”
