2017 Miss Grandview Pageant

On April 15th 2017, judges will choose Grandviews newest queens and princesses. There is 8 candidates running for the 3 spots. Kendall Roberson, Marlene Castilleja, Daisy Romo, Krystal Bravo, Jasel Perez, Kai’Lei Elizondo, Joanna Perez, Maritza Alvarez. Our past royalty was Queen Areesa Trevino. Princesses, Alondra Perez, and Cristina Aguilar. This years pageant theme is Hairspray! The pageant is based on five different sections. Each girl will be scored on poise, academics, fitness, talent, and an interview that takes place before the show. I could share with you each candidate's talent, but I don't want to ruin the surprise! The judges get to decide, by the end score, who gets on the court. We will again, have two princess with a queen. The pageant is taking place at the Grandview Middle School.

I asked a few of our candidates questions to know what they plan to bring to our city. First up, Maritza Alvarez! I asked, what’s motivated you to be Miss Grandview. She responded, the thought of being a role model for young girls. What's a fun fact about yourself? She said she can be outgoing in a fun, dorky way! She was asked, what can you bring to this community? She said she’s always had a good helping nature and always loves helping out. Her favorite quote is, “A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others” from Ayn Rand.

Up next is Marlene Castilleja! I asked her the same questions as Maritza Alvarez. What motivates her is being able to represent her city in a positive manner. She wants girls to believe anything is possible no matter the size of the dream. She believes being involved isn’t the big deal, its how much you care. Her fun fact is she can touch her nose with her tongue! Her Favorite quote is “Just be nice” from Chad Bunker.

Kendall Roberson’s motivation is her sister, Miranda Roberson. She was also a Miss Grandview princess. Kendall feels she has lot of ideas and loves to meet new people. Her fun fact is she is 4’11.5! Things she can bring to this community is her ideas, leadership, and loves to boss people around. Her favorite quote is also a bible verse, “Anyone can find the dirt in someone. Be the one that finds the gold.” Proverbs 11:27.

Kai’Lei Elizondo’s motivation is also the thought of being a role model for young girls and make a difference in this city. Her fun act is she’s very spirited all the time. She really likes to make everyone laugh and have a good time. What she feels she can bring to this community is a lot of help and good happy times. Her favorite quote is from the bible, Luke 18:1, “Always pray and never give up.”

Those were some of your candidates!! Come support them on Saturday April 15th! Good luck and have a great time ladies!
