Boys Jamboree Tip Off

This year boys basketball jamboree was hosted by Sunnyside High School home of the Grizzlies on Tuesday, November 29th. With the Grandview Greyhounds, Sunnyside Grizzlies, Sunnyside Christian Knights and Wapato Wolves playing it was set to be a great jamboree with great things in store for everyone watching. Playing four five minute games having B squads from each team play the first two quarters while the A team of each squad finishing off the game. Going into the Greyhounds first game of the night sophomore Reese Ramos was on fire racking up 13 points for Grandview and to add on Julian Trinidad made two points bringing us up to a total of 15 points while the Knights follow behind with a score of 2 during the second quarter Julian Trinidad made an amazing three point shot the bounced off the rim went up in the air and shots straight in during this the score 5-22 with Grandview winning during the last minutes of the game Sunnyside Christian brought their “A” game bringing the score to 19-24 giving Grandview their first win of the night.

Maurice Pireto was especially excited to play his first game as a basketball player playing in the varsity team after switching out of wrestling to join basketball the reason he switch was to try something new because he didn't find wrestling as an interest to him. Most of Maurice’s friends were in basketball and he did not want to be left out so he quit wrestling and joined basketball when the results of tryouts came he was shocked to find out he made varsity when asking Maurice what he expect from his team this year this is what he had to say “for the team to go to state this year”.

Jalen Fonseca another varsity player had things to say about the jamboree this past Tuesday on how he thought it went “I think it went good, we have a couple thing to work on but we should get them down fast and get back to Grandview basketball.” Speaking of improving Jalen had to say “be a better teammate and have everyone in a ready to go mood”. Julian Trinidad thinks “we will play great team basketball, everybody plays their role well whether its score or rebound were trying to get back to play Greyhound basketball.
