Lady Hounds Fall Short

The annual girls basketball jamboree kicked off this year when four teams came together to showcase a preview of what they are made of. The four teams who came together were the Grandview Greyhounds, Wapato Wolves, Sunnyside Grizzlies and Prosser Mustangs. All teams were required to play four-five minute quarters with a three minute half time. The first two quarters the B squad of each team went head to head while the last two quarters the A squads finished off the game. This year’s jamboree started off with Sunnyside’s win over Wapato 42-24 shortly after Wapato played their second and final game of the night against Prosser to whom they won 31-21. After Wapato’s win, the Grandview Greyhounds started off playing against Sunnyside where both B teams went head to head by halftime the score was 24 to 5. In the last quarter Grandview scored 16 points, 2 by Michelle Ruiz, 6 by Vanessa Caballero, 2 by Grace Meza, 1 free throw by Karina Fajardo, another free throw by Marin Bender, a 2 pointer by Alexandra Garcia and another 2 pointer by Bailey. Sunnyside scored 25 points the last quarter which got them to win by 49-21. After a tough lost against Sunnyside, the Lady Hounds prepared themselves to play their last game of the night against the Lady Mustangs to whom they scored 4 to 6 by halftime giving Prosser a lead. During the first and second quarter Natasha Jones and Kaylin Cortez scored 2 pointers while Prosser scored a 2 pointer and 4 free throws. During the third and fourth quarter Michelle Ruiz scored 8 points, Bailey Duis added 2 free throws and Karina Fajardo another 2 free throws by the end of the game the final score was 16 to 27. The Lady Hounds take on the Pullman Greyhounds on Thursday night for the first game of the season.
