Grandview DECA Takes Over The Haunted House

It’s that time if the year, Halloween! To kick off the Halloween weekend this year Grandview DECA took over the annual haunted house located downtown Grandview. Days before the actual event took place students not only apart of Grandview DECA but also from Grandview High School spent a number of hours preparing the house creating a creepy environment for all who entered the house.
The haunted house was open Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th of October. This year consisted of an upstairs level being scary enough for younger children to go through in which they called a PG-13 area. The downstairs level was a rated R area where an individual who entered, entered at their own risk. Saturday brought out a large crowd being opening night, doors opened at 5 p.m. and didn't close until 10:30 p.m. Again bringing another large amount of people, Sunday, the final day of the event doors opened at 5 p.m. and were open until 8 p.m. All those who participated to make the event happen enjoyed their time being there spooking those who walked the house. Many people who walked the house were impressed with the performance of all the actors.
Starting off the maze, people walked through the first level where zombies roamed which led all the way up to the final PG-13 scene of a cult where a sacrifice’s life was taken. For those who seeked to continue maze led into a more gruesome location, where a bloody Mary scene was presented with also a creepy old man, doctor scene gone extremely wrong and so much more.
Even for being a cold and rainy weekend it did not stop the community from coming out to show their support and get into the Halloween spirit. Overall, the weekend was a huge success bringing a number of students closer to their community and continuing on a tradition of the city of Grandview. Grandview DECA would like to thank all of our volunteers and sponsors who helped make this event happen. The DECA chapter looks forward on continuing to run the haunted house for all the years to come.
