From Homecoming Night to Senior Night

Thursday October 20th, was the last practice before senior night football game. Friday night would be the last time the seniors step foot on the Grandview football field to play on their own turf in front of a large crowd to take on an opponent. As it being not only senior night but also the homecoming game it’ll cause an emotional roller coaster for the seniors playing on that field tomorrow because not will this will be the last hours they will all get to play together but it’ll also be considered the last time they get to experience homecoming. Seniors like Felix Medina want their last game to be one of the best being able to have a memorable night they’d an also want to end being able to play at Rich Leenhouts stadium on a good note.

It’s Senior Night for the Grandview football team and this is the last time the seniors will play together as a whole team on the home field. Grandview High School showed their appreciation for their team by rooting on the Greyhounds every second of the game until the time ran out. During the first quarter of the game sophomore #25 Christian Gomez made a 87- yard kickoff return for the Greyhounds, Gomez made a total of 91 yards on 3 runs. Senior #2 Maurice Prieto ran the ball 18 times for 101 yards, which led to 21-10 at halftime. Junior #18 Case Graff followed with an interception giving the ball back to the hounds. After the interception for Grandview, Senior #4 Joel Pena made a 47 yard touchdown run for the Hounds during the second half of the game. Junior #7 Ricky Abarca also made a 39 yard running touchdown. Senior #88 Roger Renteria also made an interception and moved the ball up 10 yards during fourth quarter. With the Ephrata Tigers close to another touchdown you could feel the intensity was in the air, hoping that the home team would continue on their well worked performance. The Hounds decided to use #75 Noah Palomarez as block barrier and get the end block. Then for 3 downs during the last quarter left with 4 minutes on the scoreboard and the score 27-16, #25 Christian Gomez later made a 85 yard run for his second touchdown of the night. As time ran out the crowd cheered with excitement leading the Hounds to victory ending the score to 33-16. It was a great night to be a greyhound ending an exciting homecoming week and winning the homecoming game.
